2018 Building an Addition | Adding a Room Tips | Major Home Improvement Project FLoor Plan

2018 – Interested in Renovations in your home. This video was filmed on location in New Jersey. Pangione Developers Inc owner – David Pangione hosts this Major Home Remodel.
See this tiny cape cod home completely expanded on all levels. This home addition consisted of the entire home being gutted to the studs. From there the house was expanded with a new 12′ rear addition. The rear house addition is a full 2 levels.
The old roof was removed and an entire new 2nd floor was added on.
The existing garage roof was removed as well and the 2nd floor was also expanded above the garage.

Interior remodeling: Inside of the house, the entire interior was gutted. From the basement upwards. We removed the old basement interior. The existing staircase was also removed and relocated to just in front of the new front door.

Take a look at the specialty mouldings throughout. The mouldings really make this house that much better.

On the new 2nd floor, we added 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as a laundry. In Bergen County NJ, second floor laundries are very popular especially in our new home remodeling projects.
The master suite is very spacious. we included a 10′ cathedral ceiling. To enter the master bath suite, simply slide open the pocket door and the bathroom opens up into a very nice layout including his and her bathroom sinks, a custom shower and an amazing self standing soak tub. There is a private toilet as well. The master closet is all customized with shelving.

Take a look at this Major Home Remodeling Project located in Bergen County New Jersey.

Helpful Home Improvement Tips: Licensing

Find out why every contractor you hire should be licensed and what it means to be licensed.

Hello everyone! My name is Tyler Bohlman and I’m here to answer some of the most common questions that everyone has about home improvement, dealing with contractors, financial transactions with contractors and any other questions that you in the audience might have; and the first question that we are going to tackle is about contractor licensing.

Now, if you go online and see lists of things about hiring a contractor, one of the very first things that are mentioned is making sure the contractor is licensed, but what does that mean? Just like a driver’s license allows you to legally drive, a contractor’s license allows them to legally work on the specific job you’ve hired them for. And also just like there are car licenses, motorcycle licenses, and chauffer’s licenses there are separate licenses for specific contractor jobs such as plumbing, heating and cooling, and electric as well as general contractor licensing. Lastly, just like driver’s licenses, the requirements to gain a license vary from state to state
You should always make sure that your contractor is not only licensed, but licensed for the job that you’ve hired them to do. This is as simple as asking them for proof of licensure, again, like a driver’s license…showing a card, or by checking with your state’s license board or government usually via a website.

That’s a quick overview of what it means for your contractor to be licensed. If this was helpful be sure to like us here on Youtube and on Facebook. Stay tuned for more answers to your common questions and if you have any specific questions you’d like us to answer be sure to tell us on our website https://www.Safepact.com. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you next time.

How to install an undersink water filter

Greg show how to install an unde rsink water filter and a dedicated spigot near the sink.

Please rate and comment on this video.

This video shows every step in the installation: Where to place the spigot, drilling through the granite countertop, mounting the filter, and the use of both a push fitting and a ferrule ring fitting to join water supply tube ends.
We use a Body Glove filter for this installation, which provides some advantages over a reverse-osmosis system, although as with any filter system, it does not “purify” the water as completely as an RO system. However, the filter system is less expensive, does not produce waste water in the filtering process, and filters on demand – thus providing no opportunity for pre-filtered water to become “stale.”
Also see the video on How to Replace an Angle Stop (shut off valve) which was done in preparation for the water filter installation:

The Water Filter I Recommend

The importance of clean water is finally coming to the forefront, and it’s about time. Toxic water is not limited to Southern California dealing with Hexavalent Chromium and Flint, Michigan’s lead crisis. Toxins like microbes, pesticides, plastics, prescription meds, metals, chlorine, fluoride and others are poisoning our water supply. The scary fact is that many of these toxins have been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, cardiovascular effects, reproductive problems and more. Drinking water straight from the tap is no longer an option.

If we cannot trust our government to keep our water clean, it is up to us to choose the best filtration methods. Read more about the water filter that I recommend here: drhyman.com/blog/2016/12/08/my-favorite-water-filter

UV Water Filter & Purification Systems How They Work – FreshWaterSystems.com

Who Uses a UV Water Filter System and How a UV System Work?

See All Viqua UV Water Filter & Purification Systems: https://www.freshwatersystems.com/c-1339-viqua-uv-systems.aspx

It looks good. It tastes OK, but is your drinking water safe for everyone to drink?

Dangerous levels of harmful bacteria and viruses in drinking water cannot always be detected by sight, smell or taste.
If your home’s water comes from a private source, such as a well, you are solely responsible for its disinfection and treatment. And a UV water filter system is a highly effective, chemical-free water purification method.

If your water comes from a municipal or city source, the treatment plant follows rules and regulations for disinfection. Before entering your home however, your drinking water passes through miles of an aging water pipe system. Breaks in the system such as damaged pipes and broken water mains can allow dangerous contaminant into your drinking water such as bacteria and viruses – a common cause of boil water advisories.

Among the ordinary events that can cause contaminant to leach into wells and surface water sources are heavy rainfall, melting snow, agricultural run-off and industrial pollution.

Before it flows from your faucet, how can you make sure your water is safe to drink? Disinfect and purify your drinking water with eco-friendly UV or Ultraviolet light.

What is a UV Water Purification System?

Before water enters the UV chamber for purification, it needs to be clarified. A sediment pre-filter, such as a 5 micron filter, ensures the water is clear enough for effective UV light disinfection. Next, an activated carbon filter improves the water’s taste.

Water then enters a stainless Steel chamber which houses the purifying UV light inside a transparent quartz sleeve. Many systems feature a 365 day counter to notify you when it is time to replace the UV lamp.

How does Ultraviolet Water Treatment System purify and Disinfect Drinking Water?

The germicidal energy of ultraviolet light destroys illness-causing microorganisms by attacking the DNA at their genetic core. This eliminates the organisms’ ability to reproduce, rendering them harmless.

UV water purification systems eliminates 99.99% of the harm viruses and bacteria like E.coli can cause. The same is true of harmful protozoa such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium which are chlorine-resistant and a difficult challenge for many water systems.

With a quality Viqua (Sterlight or UVMax) UV water filter system you can be sure your water has been disinfected, purified, and is safe to drink whether your water is from a well or municipal water supply. Learn more by visiting: http://www.freshwatersystems.com or calling 877.335.3339.

How to Install a Water Conditioner

Ask This Old House plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey installs a water conditioner to combat hard water

Click here to SUBSCRIBE to the official This Old House YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=thisoldhouse

Time: 2-3 hours

Cost: 00 and Up

Skill Level: Moderate

Tools List for Installing a Water Conditioner:
Pipe cutter
Drill driver
Tape measure

Shopping List:
Citrus conditioner system
Scrap plywood
Pipe fittings

1. Before doing any work on the plumbing system, ensure that water is turned off at the main shutoff.
2. Locate an area on the wall near the water main where the citrus conditioner can be installed. Ensure the location has enough clearance for the filters to be easily changed.
3. Locate studs in the wall and mount a piece of scrap wood to the structure to serve as a backer for the conditioner using a drill driver and screws.
4. Assemble the citrus conditioner using the instructions with the kit. Screw the mounting brackets to the heads of the filter, then attach the unit into the plywood backer board on the wall.
5. Measure, cut, and dry fit the pipes to connect the main water line to the conditioner. Cut the pipes with the pipe cutter and clean the ends with sandpaper before dry fitting.
6. Disassemble the pieces, apply flux to the pipe and fittings, and then solder the connections.
7. Install the cartridges to the filter. The carbon filter should be installed immediately downstream from the main water shutoff, and the citrus conditioner should be installed downstream from that. The kit comes with a wrench that can tighten the cartridge to the filter.
8. Turn the water back on and check for leaks.

Richard installed a citrus conditioner manufactured by Nuvo (https://www.nuvoh2o.com )

Other supplies and materials for this project, including solder, flux, copper pipe and couplings, and the plywood backing are sold at home centers and plumbing supply houses.

Expert assistance with this project was provided by Grand Canyon National Park (https://www.nps.gov/grca/index.htm), Just Plumbing Services, Inc. (http://justplumbingservicesinc.com ), and Morris Merchants (http://www.morrismerchants.com)
